We opted for one of their signature rolls, some nigiri, and an innovative sashimi creation. They arrived at our table in a theatrical way – a white cloud billowing from a bubbling cup. Amidst the ethereal mist, the dish took on a more vibrant and charming appearance, adding an extra layer of visual appeal and excitement to our dining experience.
The Rainbow Deluxe roll is a luxurious and flavor-packed sushi creation. Inside, the sushi rice envelops a delightful combination of grilled eel, creamy avocado, crisp cucumber, and luscious cream cheese, creating a creamy and indulgent filling, with roasted eel and avocado providing a soft and rich mouthfeel. On the outside, the roll is wrapped in layers of succulent shrimp, tender tuna, and delicate salmon, which lend a fresh, briny and oceanic richness.
Topped with mild umami seaweed and red tobiko with its mild seafood flavor and unique eggy popping texture, the rolls are not only visually stunning, but also bursting with complementary flavors and textures that leave a lasting impression on your palate.
The flambeed scallop nigiri is a true masterpiece. The plump, tender scallop, gently kissed by flames, has a caramelized exterior and a slightly smoky flavor that enhances its natural sweetness.
To savor this delicacy, the best way is to pair it with soy sauce and wasabi. Begin by blending the wasabi into the soy sauce until smooth with no obvious wasabi chunks remaining. Slowly lift the nigiri from the sides with chopsticks. Dip the luscious scallop side into the soy sauce, to prevent the rice from absorbing too much soy sauce, which can overpower the delicate flavors of the fish and rice. Place the nigiri in your mouth fish side down, and let the fish touch your tongue first. This will allow you to fully appreciate its intricate flavor.
Chew slowly as the delicate sweetness of the plump, well-rounded scallop melts on your tongue. It bursts with fresh richness, accentuated by the umami sour sushi rice and complemented by the tangy kick of wasabi and the savory depth of soy sauce. It delivers a sublime culinary bliss you wish would never end.
Hot and Spicy Tuna consists of spicy tuna tatar and cucumber, cradled by vinegar rice, avocado, and spicy mayo. It delivers a nice interplay of heat and coolness, spice and creaminess. While the creamy avocado melts with the spicy mayo, the cucumber adds a crisp contrast, all anchored by the fresh, savory tuna.
The delicately seasoned and finely diced tuna envelops your senses with its signature melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, rich umami undertone, and oceanic freshness, leaving a lingering sensation of sheer satisfaction.
Unagi Salmon Rolls is a classic that combines all the essential elements of sushi excellence – tender slices of velvety salmon, creamy avocado, and crisp cucumber, cradled in sushi rice and blanketed by thinly sliced, expertly roasted unagi (eel). The iconic pairing of grilled eel and teriyaki sauce – with the sweet-savory sauce exceptionally complementing the rich umami flavor of the grilled eel – is a timeless combination that never fails to delight.
The creamy texture of the avocado and the rich buttery salmon enhance the mouthful, while cucumber and green onions add crunch and freshness. Each bite transports you to a world of sushi perfection with its harmonious blend of tastes and textures.
While raw sashimi remains a staple in Japanese cuisine, aburi-style sushi is growing in popularity. Aburi is a Japanese cooking technique that, by gently torching the fish’s surface, preserves its delicate raw essence while adding a smoky touch. Intrigued, we ordered Salmon Aburi, bathed in homemade sauce and generously garnished with roasted onions, finely chopped ginger, cucumber stripes and chives.
Wrap the bountiful toppings in Salmon slices, and brace yourself for an impactful flavor explosion – the salmon, slightly smoky on the surface, remains tender and moist underneath. Crunchy roasted onions, garlicky chives, zesty spicy ginger, and fresh cucumbers, all nicely balancing the richness of the fatty buttery salmon and the umami sauce, brighten up the overall taste. It’s an ideal dish for those who enjoy the freshness of raw fish but also want the complexity from the aburi process and a twist of fusion flavors.
